AVERY KEEN

Research Assistant

Avery graduated in 2023 with an honours degree in biochemistry and did her honours biology project with Dr. Good. The project investigated the evolution of genes involved in the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis and steroidogenesis, including expression of these genes in sea lamprey.

Avery's current work in the Good Lab is mainly focused on the Sea Lamprey Aquaculture Procurement (SLAP) Project. She is finding markers for gonad development, developing qPCR primers for oogenesis and spermatogenesis, and comparing gene expression of male vs. female and wild-caught vs. lab-reared sea lampreys at different life history stages.
