Ilya recently completed his MSc degree on the evolutionary dynamics of the human-specific gene family, FAM72A. Prior to that he worked  relationship among Kazakh tribes based on Y-chromosome microsatellites. Currently, he is working as a bioinformation to assemble the female germline genome in sea lamprey, and understand the role of epigenetic modifications in sex determination and differentiation.
